We Recommend That You

Join David Read and fellow bicyclists as they explore the east coast of the United States by following the developing East Coast Greenway (ECG).

Join their adventure as they devote one week per year for nine years to travel from the Canadian border through Maine, all the states on the eastern seaboard, and eventually reach the southern tip of Florida.

The East Coast Greenway was envisioned to connect all the rail trails, canal paths, linear parks and protected bike lanes through cities, to weave those together to have a safe, connected bikeway along the East Coast.

East Coast Greenway
Week-A-Year Tour

Course Description

Since 1991, the East Coast Greenway Alliance has led the development of more than 1,000 miles of protected greenways and continues to advance a safe, connected corridor for walking, biking, horseback riding and all forms of active non-motorized transportation from Maine to Florida.

Thanks to those working together over the past 30 years, 65% of the East Coast Greenway is either complete or in an advanced stage of development.

Events like the Week-A-Year Tour bring awareness to the project, and, by meeting with community leaders, the group shone a spotlight on the enthusiasm, support and need for the ECG to continue to be developed.

You will find yourself admiring the enthusiasm and perseverance of this group of people who bring environmental awareness and health benefits to their explorations, excitement and focus on the ECG project. Future East Coast Greenway progress depends upon funding, so consider getting involved once you see this inspiring film.
